POS - Sarah

We want some good points of sale in the shops where Dece is going to be stocked, so that brand is seen but also remembered. I have looked at shops that already have very good successful pos, like Top Shop, Timberland and billabong. Good pos makes brand look high quality, this is the impression we want to leave people with.

Top shop.

Top shop has really good pos, they change regularly (with each season) and there of a very high quality.

The pos seem to mean more then the clothes in some cases.

They make a shop more inviting and rememberable

They are very good at displaying a shops tone, style and atmosphere.

Timberland.

This is a extreme example but it does display the lenghts shops go to, to display there clothes and encourage people to visit there shop over others.

Billabong.

This shop really uses there pos to display what there about, it will attract a very specific audience.

An eclectic feel can be very effective with our target audience, as is shown in these displays.

I think they want you to think more about what you'll be doing while your wearing there clothes.

Selfridges

We have to create strong pos to separate Dece from all the other brands on sale in shops. Selfrides is obviously a successful shop, but the individual brands pos can sometimes lack originally and they blend into each other, they don't have to worry about broadcasting there products because they are generally already successful brands.

Pop Up POS.

I am going to make a POS pop up out of paper of card. I am using paper/ card because it is cheap, easily reproduced and constructed, and adaptable, that can be easily replaced if damaged and most shops have displays anyway so wouldn't interrupt with the running of a shop.

Examples of pop ups and paper construction:

Peter Callesen.

These are probably my favourite from all the paper engineering research I have done, they are quite funny and pretty and I would possibly use influences from this in my own work. I like the delicacy of them, the attention to detail, and I think the cut out is as effective as the creation.

DEVELOPMENT.

Very simple method of cutting out a shape, folding it up and inserting paper supports. I have not decided yet if these are going to be printed or handmade. printed may be cheaper but i think handmade would be nicer and would fit with the product and companies feel.

More development .... these are printed wave images, on to normal paper (very rough) but it give a good idea of what I'm going for. They will defiantly have to be made out of some sort of card. At first I wanted it to be one continuous piece that would be folded into position, but after doing it myself it is actually quite difficult to assemble so I think having stands and putting the image into the stand would be allot easier and pleasing to the eye.

The wave pos would have the sounds of waves playing from a music maker, and the mountain one would have a small foam maker to recreate snow, this would make it more of a spectical.
