Initial Research - Jennie Clark

For the first task of the module, the research presentation, we divided the job of researching the relevant information. My job was to research into Dece to make sure we fully understood the company and their story. Our understanding of the company is essential for the task of branding which i will be doing at a later date.

I researched into Dece through the existing website and Facebook page.

As team leader, one of my responsibilites is to organise the group. I wrote up a session plan for our second meeting which can be seen above. This is something which i will be doing for every group meeting. It is important that plans are made for our sessions together as this will keep the group focused and on track with work.

As part of my research i also pulled a variety of photos from the Dece Facebook page. Looking at the existing product photos will allow us to analyse how the target market are depicted in Dece photography. We can also see the style of photography that is used; this will help us to brand the company by taking existing themes which they use.

From these photographs, we can see that the products are always shot in a very natural and outdoors environment. The photos give off a very positive and happy vibe, the models wearing the clothes are smiling and laughing in groups, and the children in Romania are playing around. These are the feelings that Dece want assosiated with their brand.

From this research alone we want our branding to reflect these characteristics shown in the photos
  • Outdoors
  • Natural
  • Organic
  • Positive
  • Earthy colours
  • Neutral tones
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Ethical

There are a lot of other factors which will come into the branding, for example, what competitors are doing/look like and the target market. These areas ahve been researched by the other members of the group.
